Adriana Zanchi

Adriana has a profound passion for food, culture and sustainability, and she finds great pleasure and happiness working at Windmill Community Gardens Margate, where she spends her Saturday mornings facilitating Windmill Green Beans, our weekend group for children and their adults.

Hailing from Burano, a small island near Venice, she's lived around Italy and the Mediterranean, eventually landing in Margate 4 years ago. After completing her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, Adriana worked for Slow Food Education developing educational events and programs for children and young adults. Afterward, she became a Mediterranean wanderer and moved from France to Italy, to Spain and Greece to complete her Master's Degree in Sustainable Management of Food Quality. She then moved to Sicily to work at the Anna Tasca Lanza cooking school, an international centre of Sicilian food knowledge & culture.

Now based in Margate she works as freelance copywriter and social media manager for food businesses as well as hosting food pop ups and supper clubs in Margate and London.

Throughout her sessions for the Community Roots Learning Programme, she aims at sharing her knowledge around food systems and landscapes to those participating. Her gentle joyful approach to cooking is like a ray of sunshine!

Adriana believes that every occasion is good to be playful around food and she hopes to bring this approach to her cooking sessions here at Windmill.
