The team at Windmill Community Gardens Margate is thrilled to have received funding to make their Learning Pod more welcoming, in order to reach more people. The new funding is from The National Lottery Awards for All, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and will be used to make renovations and offer new activities.

Lorna Kane Programme Manager  says

“It will be terrific to offer a refurbished, more accessible space, so new opportunities can be enjoyed surrounded by the beautiful community gardens. We are so delighted The National Lottery Awards for All will enable hopes to be realised as expressed by our community and it feels good to be able to respond with this new offer. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we can welcome more people to build on their strengths, connect, share skills and enjoy learning together.”

Windmill Community Gardens Margate is a charity, any funds raised or donations received cover a portion of their running costs. The charity offers many free activities, donates surplus produce to food charities, and shares produce with participants. Staff and volunteers  work together with the community to make up the difference by growing and selling fresh, nature friendly produce, including seasonal veg, fruit, herbs, cut flowers and preserves through their weekly veg bag, market stall, to restaurants, and through sales of tickets for workshops, activities and events. We welcome everyone to support and enjoy our community garden on Dane Valley Road and our community market garden on St Peters Footpath.
