See Me Grow
In collaboration with See Me Play
Second Monday each month 10:30-12:30 pm
ND-affirming Play Café. Join us each month at Windmill Community Gardens for a relaxed, friendly play session. Little ones can explore with support from our playworkers, while adults have time to chat, connect, and enjoy the space.
It’s a free, welcoming session for families with a child under 5 and a disabled or neurodivergent family member (no diagnosis needed). Spaces are limited to 10 to keep things calm and comfortable—so booking is recommended.
Open Gardens
Free no need to book
First Sunday of month from 10 - 2pm
Come and enjoy the gardens, catch up with friends or relax with a family picnic. Let your children explore and play using our equipment, mud kitchen, and dens. There won’t be any organised activities, so you’re free to enjoy the space at your own pace.
FREE Litter picking equipment will also be available for anyone to use, lets work together to keep our community tidy!

For Home educated families
Term Time only, Wednesdays 1 - 4 pm
Join us in the gardens for nature-based learning, free play and hands-on activities including growing, cooking, crafts, woodwork, foraging, nature journaling, den building and outdoor skills. Sessions are designed to encourage creativity, curiosity and confidence through exploration and connection with the natural world.
These sessions are particularly suited to home-educated children aged 8 and over, with siblings welcome to attend. Parents and carers are asked to remain onsite, with children remaining their responsibility at all times while at the community gardens.
Cabbage Patch
Tuesday 10:30 -12:30 pm
Cabbage Patch is our weekly year round, Tuesday family group for children under 7 and their adults. During school holidays, older siblings up to the age of 12 are welcome to join, although activities remain aimed at younger children.
Each relaxed session offers nature-based play and exploration through crafts, story time, gardening, singing and food-focused activities. With plenty of opportunities for free play, children are encouraged to explore creatively, build confidence and enjoy the garden at their own pace.
