We are writing to you to let you know that as of the 1st April, we will be increasing the prices of our veg bags. Over the course of the last year we have seen a dramatic increase in the costs of packing and growing materials, organic veg wholesale costs, and staffing costs as a living wage employer.
Up until now we have been absorbing these costs and running at a loss. We have always wanted our produce to be as accessible as possible to the community and know that this increase will impact this, however, we cannot consciously continue with our current prices without jeopardising the rest of our goals we are committed to achieving as a charity. We need to work towards a more sustainable model at the Market Garden so that we can continue to provide local, chemical free produce alongside our initiatives at both the Market Garden and Community Gardens to deliver positive outcomes in wellbeing, education and employment.
In line with these changes, and after listening to your feedback, we will also be introducing a Large Family size veg box, increasing the portion weights in our medium veg bag wherever possible, as well as continuing to work on diversifying our offerings both in the veg bags as standard and our optional add ons. The wonderful Adriana will also continue to provide recipes with the veg bags to bring out the chef in you!
New veg bags and prices as of 1st April 2026:
Small Veg Bag
Price £12.75
This bag will include 5 items and is equivalent to our current Small Veg Bag
Medium Veg Bag
Price £14.75
This bag will include 6 items and is equivalent to our current Standard Veg Bag, with larger portions than our small bag.
Large Family Bag/Box
Price £30.00
This bag will include 6 items and will include double the portion weight of our Medium Veg bag, this bag will be for Thursday HOME DELIVERY only,within the Thanet area
For existing customers, we will be freezing the current price of veg bags as a thank you for your loyalty until 1st May 2026. Therefore, for the month of April your account will be credited each week with the difference to keep you at the current rate.
We want to give a huge heartfelt thank you to you all, whether you have been with us for years or only a couple of weeks. Your subscriptions directly support chemical free, healthy food and positive social outcomes for our community here in Thanet. We hope you will continue to enjoy the beautiful produce grown in Margate by our two market gardeners, as well as the bounties of the Organic farmers we work with.
