We’re thrilled to introduce our new Membership program at Windmill Community Gardens in Margate! Over the years, so many of our wonderful visitors have asked how they can support the space they love, we have now launched our membership program.
By joining on a monthly or annual basis, you are directly contributing to the upkeep and growth of our gardens, ensuring they remain a vibrant, welcoming space for the whole community. We’ve created a variety of membership tiers so everyone has the opportunity to get involved and make a difference.
Our gardens are full of life, but like any living space, they need care. With exposure to the elements year round, our sites constantly need repairs. In early 2023, we had to replace the skins of two of our polytunnels (just the outer skin alone cost an astounding £8,000). We’re also managing leaky roofs, a damaged toilet, doors that stick, and a long list of other essential maintenance tasks. Your membership helps us tackle these ongoing challenges and keep our facilities safe and functional.
But your support goes beyond repairs. It fuels our vision for the future. We have exciting plans to build new structures and improve existing ones, allowing us to offer warm, sheltered indoor spaces which is especially important during the colder months. We also aim to expand our solar power capacity to better serve our visitors and reduce our environmental impact.
Most importantly, your membership helps us continue offering free and inclusive services to those who need them most including families attending our groups and activities, people experiencing isolation, mental ill health, or learning difficulties, and community members gaining supported volunteer or work experience.
This is a truly generous way to give back, and we are so grateful for your support. With your help, we can continue to nurture this space and all the people it brings together.
